Sailing at full sail!

At Raona, we define ourselves as technological explorers. We are continuously seeking the latest solutions and trends to always stay one step ahead. We are passionate about technology and want to carry out projects that surprise and inspire our clients. And we have been doing this since our beginnings in 2003, paying attention to every detail to ensure success.

We create value for your company through innovative technological solutions, working with your team to understand your needs and involving clients in the project development. For this reason, Galatea was born in 2005 (under the Ideris brand). Galatea is our management software for marinas, yacht clubs, and shipyards, defined, realized, and evolved together with some of our clients, the marinas and yacht clubs. After a decade of intense collaboration with the sector, we continue to navigate with them, always seeking to go one step further, designing tools that change business dynamics and improve productivity, transforming tools to empower users.

Following our continuous improvement approach, we have been inspired by the wind, an essential element for sailors to advance.

The compass rose, linked to the four cardinal points, determines thirty-two possible courses. Each course corresponds to a wind, with its own name and personality. The way of naming the winds has referenced a specific point in the Mediterranean. This geographical point is called the cradle of the winds, where the direction and name of the winds coincide. To find it, we must look for a place where Rome is to the northwest, Greece to the northeast, Syria to the southeast, and Libya to the southwest. The result is a point halfway between Malta and Crete, right where the 20th meridian intersects with the 36th parallel.

The Mediterranean winds move the sea where Galatea forges its character, but they have siblings sailing all the skies of the planet, and their names are as varied as their forms. In ancient Japanese alone, there are more than two thousand words to name the winds and their varieties. Around the world, their names change; sometimes, the same wind lives in different places under different names, and other times the winds share names and, being different, use the same one. Their variety is immense: gales, gusts, squalls, storms, hurricanes by their form. From the east, south, north, variable by their direction. Katabatic, foehn, marine, by their formation.

Always pursuing something better and staying true to our principles, we have unified Galatea and all the services linked to it into three different modalities, which we have named:

  • Galatea Nowaki

Nowaki is a warm wind from the sea that blows in the Japanese autumn.

  • Galatea Scirocco

Scirocco is a Mediterranean wind that comes from the Sahara and can reach hurricane speeds in North Africa and Southern Europe, especially during the summer.

  • Galatea Williwaw

Williwaw is a stormy and terrible wind that descends from the mountains to the sea in the Aleutian Islands, which extend from Alaska to Siberia, in the Arctic. It is also the name for the wind with the same characteristics that blows in the Strait of Magellan. In both cases, it is greatly feared by sailors.

The reason for this redefinition is to unify solutions and make them more accessible to our clients, the marinas and yacht clubs, in a more appealing way and at lower prices. We want you to enjoy technology as much as we do at Raona!
